Covid-19

COVID Vaccines

There are now several vaccines available to prevent symptomatic COVID-19. These vaccines are safe and effective, they are strongly encouraged to prevent serious cases of COVID-19. Our practice is not distributing any of the COVID vaccines as this time. Please visit Harris County Public Health for information on how to sign up for the vaccine. This office does not have the ability to move people up in the priority list to receive the vaccine.

    • COVID vaccines are recommended for all adults over 18 (the Pfizer vaccine can be taken by teenagers from 16-18)
    • You CANNOT get COVID-19 from the vaccines
    • If you have had COVID-19 in the past you still need to receive the vaccine
    • The vaccines are safe to take for patients on multiple prescription medications
    • There are no medications that prevent patients from receiving the vaccine, including NSAIDs
    • There are no medical conditions that prevent patients from receiving the vaccine (patients with a history of Guillain-Barre Syndrome    speak with your neurologist prior to receiving the vaccine)
    • The vaccines are safe to take for patients with HIV
    • The vaccines are safe for pregnant and breastfeeding patients
    • The vaccines are safe to take for patients with immunocompromising conditions
    • The vaccines are safe to take for patients on immunosuppression medications, including injectable biological agents and steroids
    • It is very common to have reactions after receiving the vaccine, these include: sore arm, fever, chills, aches and pains, dizziness,   fatigue, mild rapid heartbeat, mild shortness of breath, and nausea
    • Expect to have side effect for 24 to 48 hours after vaccination

If you have any further questions regarding COVID-19 or the vaccines you may schedule a consultation with one of our physicians.
